The primary role for EAN·UCC in XML is to standardize the area of XML dialects. EAN·UCC will become the focal point for the creation of reusable XML objects, which will allow EAN·UCC members to communicate without fear of dialect confusion. The mechanisms to develop and publish such XML objects is expected to be put in place following the successful completion of the proof-of-concept pilot project.
